KNOWING THE LORD AND HIS WILL Bible Course Lesson 1 By Paul O. Nichols God In the beginning God... (Genesis 1:1). Before anything else, there was God. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God (Psalms 90:2).The Creation With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). ...God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). In six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is... (Exodus 20:11). Through faith we understand that the worlds wereframed by the word of God... (Hebrews 11:3). With God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).The Sovereignty of God Every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all thefowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I wouldnot tell thee: for the world is Mine, and the fulness thereof (Psalms 50:10-12). The God of the whole earth shall He be called (Isaiah 54:5). That men may know that Thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth (Psalms 83:18).The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine: as for the world and the fullness thereof, Thou hast founded them (Psalms 89:11).Man Created by God And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness... So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them (Genesis 1:26-27). ...The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7).In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:1-3, 14)Man Is Responsible To God Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). ...Let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear (Hebrews 12:28).Sin Separates Man From God All unrighteousness is sin (I John 5:17). ...Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you... (Isaiah 59:2). All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And sin when it is finished bringeth forth death (James 1:15). The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4).God Wants To Save The Lord...is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16-17). The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty... (Numbers 14;18). ...We trust in the living God who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe (I Timothy 4:10). Behold therefore the goodness and the severity of God... (Romans11:22).God Gives Everything Necessary For Salvation According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness... (2 Peter 1:3). All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). ...It is not in man that walketh to direct his steps (Jeremiah 10:23). Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil (Proverbs 3:5-7).Summary God is from everlasting to everlasting. He created heaven and earth and it all belongs to Him. Mankind was made in the image of God, and mankind is responsible to God. However, SIN separated mankind from the Lord, but God loves us and wants everyone to be saved. Hence, He gave His Son to redeem us from sin, and He has revealed the plan of salvation in the Bible. F ILL IN THE BLANK SPACES1.
